[jira] [Commented] (LEGAL-584) Need guidance on "after the Attic" legalities

+1 to Mark's much nicer alternative to my answer :)

And it sounds like things took a turn for the positive. I'm going to resolve this on the assumption you got a) guidance and b) help.

> I'm the current chair of the Apache Pivot PMC. The project is pretty close to dead, with really only myself still involved. And since we can only raise two PMC members for votes, it seems inevitable that the project is going to the Attic *soon*. But, since I'm still working on a lot of issues, changes, enhancements, etc. I would like to continue working on it. So, the question is: once the project goes to the Attic, what are my options for continuing work? For instance, could I "fork" it then to Github? If so, what must I do regarding copyright, license, product name, package names, etc.? Is there a resource somewhere that talks about this? Has anyone gone down this path before? And is this even the right place to ask these questions?
> Many thanks for your attention!
