   You are correct, apologies I didn't know about the jira issue tracking that was separate from github.  You are correct that those issues do cover what I'm talking about here.
   
   The closest PR was this one: https://github.com/apache/spark/pull/22532 but has been closed to inactivity. So, sadface on that.
