Content Encoding gzip

Hello everybody. 

Today I realized CouchDB (1.6) is not sending gzip-compressed replies. I
googled a bit and found various discussions and even a git repository
with the implementation...  

I was wondering if it ever made it to the main branch... ? Maybe in 2.0?
