[Bug 120285] New: when opened by another computer images are not present

https://issues.apache.org/ooo/show_bug.cgi?id=120285

          Priority: P3
            Bug ID: 120285
          Assignee: ooo-issues@incubator.apache.org
Summary: when opened by another computer images are not present
          Severity: normal
        Issue Type: DEFECT
    Classification: Application
                OS: All
          Reporter: rbeldingmiller@gmail.com
          Hardware: All
            Status: UNCONFIRMED
           Version: AOO 3.4.0
         Component: viewing
           Product: presentation

I created a presentation. The images show up when I open it on my computer,
however when emailing it to another computer or even copying it to a flash the
images do not transfer as embedded nor do they appear when the presentation is
opened on another computer. Does each image have to be sent along with the
presentation? I wouldn't imagine so.

--- Comment #2 from Du Jing <bj...@gmail.com> ---
I can confirm this is not a defect~
reason as below:

insert one image by "Insert" - "Picture" - "From file..."

1.if you check the "link" option in the dialog then save and close the file, the
image won't be stored inside your file, they will be "linked". In this case, of
course, when you send the file to another computer, links are lost, and the
images are not displayed.
2.if you wan to display the image in another computer, you must break the link
in the original computer as below step:
a.open the file with OO in the original computer
b.enter "Edit" - "Links..." dialog, and it lists all the links in the
presentation, and you can "Break Link", with this action, the link to the
external image will be broken and the image will be embedded inside the file.
c.then save and close the file, send it to another computer, and open it ,the
image will be displayed.

Images are stored inside the presentation file, if you choose to do so.
When you insert an image, with the toolbar icon or from the menu "Insert" -
"Picture" - "From file...", you have two check boxes: "Preview" (to show a
preview of the file you select), and "Link"; if Link is checked, images won't
be stored inside your file, they will be "linked". In this case, yes, when you
send the file to another computer, links are lost, and the images are not
displayed.

Do you recall if you inserted the images as Links?

You can check this with the menu "Edit" - "Links..."
You'll find a dialog "Edit Links", it lists all the links in the presentation,
and you can "Break Link", with this action, the link to the external image will
be broken and the image will be embedded inside the file.

If images are already embedded, but you don't see them in another computer,
then this is a bug.

if insert a linked picture, then the graphic will not show up in other
computers which do not have the picture file.
