Fwd: BouncyCastle without patented IDEA algorithms

Folks

Very good news indeed for any project using BouncyCastle. There is now
a regular build of BC that does not include the IDEA patented
algorithm, and is therefore safe to use in Apache distributions
[allegedly!]

Paul

Hi,

just to let you both know the officially released IDEA free version of
BC (1.40) is now out.

Regards,

David

Good news. We'll want to look into this for 1.5.5.

I believe there is a module in Geronimo that is built w/o the IDEA
code. I'm not sure if it's up-to-date with the Bouncy Castle
releases. Copying Rick McGuire who did some work on this in case I
missed something. I'd hate to see folks jump through additional hoops
on this.

FYI . We used to use BouncyCastle with Tuscany and WS-Security but
removed it due to the patent issue.
