JSON to Avro conversion

Hi all,
  I am having a json object / json string.  Using Apache Avro, can we
automatically generate avro schema and the corresponding avro record from
this json?
  If yes, any reference or sample program that I can refer to?
  If not, are there other ways to achieve this?
