Here is an overview of the issue:
---------------------------------------------------------------------
        Key: JAMES-35
    Summary: File repositories number themselves
       Type: Bug

     Status: Closed
 Resolution: FIXED

    Project: James
 Components:
             MailStore & MailRepository
   Versions:
             2.1

   Assignee:
   Reporter: Serge Knystautas

    Created: Mon, 6 May 2002 9:14 PM
    Updated: Sun, 6 Jun 2004 2:45 PM
Environment: Operating System: Other
Platform: Other

Description:
With the new avalon, the file repositories number themselves, which can have
very negative impact for anyone trying to use them... e.g., I add a user then
restart the server, and if the order of the users is different the next time I
boot up, the user's can't find their messages.

Take the repository code out of Avalon and provide a way to disable numbering,
or otherwise cause James's use of the file repository to ignore that part of the
filename so it grabs all appropriate files in that directory.
