[jira] [Created] (IMPALA-5521) Support multiple actions in ALTER
TABLE statements
Thomas Tauber-Marshall created IMPALA-5521:
----------------------------------------------
Summary: Support multiple actions in ALTER TABLE statements
Key: IMPALA-5521
URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/IMPALA-5521
Project: IMPALA
Issue Type: Improvement
Components: Catalog, Frontend
Affects Versions: Impala 2.10.0
Reporter: Thomas Tauber-Marshall
A change going in soon (IMPALA-4622) adds support for statements of the form:
ALTER TABLE <table> ALTER COLUMN <column> SET attr value [attr value, ...]
modeled on Postgres's alter statements.
Postgres supports multiple "action" clauses (here "ALTER COLUMN ... SET ...") in a single statement, and we should support this as well, eg:
ALTER TABLE <table> ALTER COLUMN <column> SET attr value [attr value, ...] ALTER COLUMN <different column> SET attr value [attr value, ...]
