[ANN] Apache Maven Release 2.5 Released
The Apache Maven team is pleased to announce the release of the Apache
Maven Release Plugin, version 2.5, together with the
maven-release-manager.
This plugin automates release management.

You should specify the version in your project's plugin configuration:
<plugin>
<groupId>org.apache.maven.plugins</groupId>
<artifactId>maven-release-plugin</artifactId>
<version>2.5</version>
</plugin>
Release Notes - Maven Release Plugin - Version 2.5
** Bug
* [MRELEASE-812] - "prepare" does not commit before tagging and
therefore deploys snapshot instead of release
* [MRELEASE-862] - Upgrade to Apache Maven SCM 1.9
Note in particular that MRELEASE-862 fixes the release plugin to work
with git version 1.8 and newer.

The intent was to be the subroutine layer under the plugin. Patches to
add doc welcome.

Sounds like a library used by (only) the maven-release-plugin. (the
documentation can be cleaned up to make that more obvious, but I guess
renaming the module would help even more)

I don't think I've ever actually come across the maven-release-manager
before - is there any information about how/what it does - the
"introduction" on the project page is rather..... hopeless.
