[VOTE] Release Apache Traffic Server v2.1.9

Hi all,

I've prepared a package for a v2.1.9 release. Please take a look at the
artifacts, check the STATUS/README/CHANGES files, and do builds and
tests. After finishing your examination of the release candidate, please
cast your ±/0 votes, I will call the vote on 5/30/2011. The src tar-ball
and signatures are available in

http://people.apache.org/~zwoop/rel-candidates/

The relevant files are

     trafficserver-2.1.9-unstable.tar.bz2
     trafficserver-2.1.9-unstable.tar.bz2.asc
     trafficserver-2.1.9-unstable.tar.bz2.md5
     trafficserver-2.1.9-unstable.tar.bz2.sha1

Checksums are:

MD5: 17ad99d66d1b43372c0012a3ea95b662
SHA1: 44e660aaf232b5ae3f3273e68dc6204da71cef37

This release has a large number of bug fixes and improvements over
previous releases. A full list of changes since v2.1.8 is available in
the CHANGES file,

http://svn.apache.org/repos/asf/trafficserver/traffic/tags/2.1.9/CHANGES

Also, the hope is that this will be the last "beta" release before v3.0,
and that from now on, we'll only consider adding critical bugs for the
v3.0 release. So please test and run this as much as possible, as soon
as possible, so we can move along with next stable relase of Apache
Traffic Server.

Thanks,

Also, here's my official +1 vote for this release. Tested with
clustering (32-bit FC14), my home server (64-bit FC14) as well as my
"production" box (32-bit FC7).

I'm calling this vote, with 4+1 votes and no -1. I've pushed the 2.1.9

Great, of course it's worth trying. And for the 'Cannot find server' error? Is that fixed with '[TS-805] HostDB wastes a lot of storage for round-robin entries, and the calculations of size are off.' ?

Thanks.

I don't think so, but worth trying I guess. You should definitely file a
bug on the issue.

Does the 2.1.9 release has the fix for INACTIVE_TIMEOUT error with *.channel.facebook.com?

Also, when testing this, it's highly recommend that you blow away all
cache files, and use the latest records.config file (with your own
modifications). We've done a fair amount of changes to various caches as
well as settings. At a minimum, I'd recommend

     % sudo rm etc/trafficserver/internal/hostdb.config var/trafficserver/*
     % sudo bin/traffic_server -Cclear
     % sudo rm var/trafficserver/server.lock

after you've upgraded and put new records.config in place. This should
hopefully not be necessary when upgrading from v2.1.9 to v3.0.0, since
we're not planning any more incompatible changes.

Cheers!

As a note, if you keep the old settings for hostdb size, ATS will fail to
configure the
hostdb and therefore fail all DNS requests.

Checksums: good. Signature: Good.
No unexpected differences between tag and tar ball.

Builds fine on Ubuntu 32bit (Natty 11.04 with GCC 4.5.2)
Tcl 8.4, pcre 8.12, OpenSSL 0.9.8o

+1 from me (Read as: Will be put into production soon)
