With the add field/dynamic field/copy field buttons, I don't have to know the syntax and the UI takes care of that for me. I think that's a really powerful motivation.
   
   Could that concern be eased if there was a template dropdown with three choices "Add field type template", "Delete field type template" and "Replace field type template"? The template JSON would be filled in the text-area, and would be pre-filled with dummy values for the most common scenarios. There should also be a web link to ref-guide for easy reference of all the details.
   
   It is far better to have such a UI than having nothing, and then a full-fledged builder UI may come later?
