   I may be terribly wrong about this but,
   https://github.com/apache/incubator-mxnet/blob/bd44ff48c4aff8458a67c44b032f82afbf4d52a5/src/operator/nn/fully_connected-inl.h#L162-L178
   
   looking at the pattern here, 
   assuming `sum_rows` is the culprit,
   maybe replacing the
   https://github.com/apache/incubator-mxnet/blob/bd44ff48c4aff8458a67c44b032f82afbf4d52a5/src/operator/nn/fully_connected-inl.h#L172
   with `gemv` with a dummy ones vector for reduction may help.
   Any thoughts?
