Transactions and Torque

Why does Torque start transactions on behalf of user? It can't possibly know
what developer intentions are as far as transactions are concerned and
should let developer to begin and end transactions as per needs of his/her
application.

It also makes it unusable in container managed transactions scenario.

I would appreciate if any of Torque developers can comment on this.
