storing application properties

Hi,

Porting my 2.0.5 app to 2.1.x i see that there are a few possibilities 
where to store application specific configuration values. I used to 
store them in the DefaultsMetaModule.

1)XMLFileModule
2)DefaultsModule
3)PropertiesFileModule
4)<global-variables> in <map:component-configurations>

I need a way to specify name/value pairs that are easily accessible to 
javacode inside components as well as the sitemap. What is the preferred 
cocoon way of doing this?
