Can you provide details of your workaround?  Obviously anyone who creates their 
own application can simply avoid showStatus(); unfortunately for the sample 
code itself it seems useful to show the user what's happening; also, this 
should be a pretty standard Applet API, so if only Netscape has a problem with 
it, I'm inclined to call this a Netscape bug.
