Cannot compile trunk
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-----
Hash: SHA1
Don't know if others have that too. Cannot compile trunk as the
cocoon-forms-impl block seems to miss dependency on different commons
jars (jxpath, lang, ...).
Anyone else?
And I had to locally fix the OSGiSpringECMFactory.java class which seems
to miss the containsLocalBean method (is this because Carsten upgraded
Spring to 1.2.7?)

I guess the mentioned fix should be all and imho it makes sense to
upgrade to 1.2.7 if possible (use always the latest and greatest :) )

It turned out not to be possible from within the pom, so i changed the
CI configuration for all modules to run "clean install" and triggered a
full build. All modules are still green :)

nope :) I had actually spotted the spring compilation the day after you
committed it and was wondering why continuum hadn't notified us of this.
It turns out that CI uses incremental compilation in order to speed up
the builds. Additionnaly it also doesn't force a complete compile when
the pom dependencies have changed, which IMO it should.
Anyway, I'll commit some pom changes over the weekend to change the
default build target from install to "clean install" when run in a
continuum environment, that should at least give us a better build quality.

just did an update and called 'mvn -U -cpu clean install' from within
blocks/cocoon-xsp successfully (using MAVEN_OPTS=-Xmx256M).
BTW it also worked yesterday at 20:30 CEST without problems.

I've just committed a fix for this, Carsten (or anyone else building
cocoon trunk on windows) could you give this a try ?

sorry i meant upgrade to maven 2.0.5, download latest from
http://maven.zones.apache.org/~maven/builds/branches/maven-2.0.x/
However, i tried it myself yesterday and it doesn't work, so you'll have
to go with the MAVEN_OPTS solution.

tools.jar doesn't exist on mac os x. I removed this last week but
Carsten added it again.
We should definitely find a more portable solution for getting the xsp
block to compile on all OS'es.

Hmm. What's the equivalent of project.xml for m2? It seems like surefire
is referenced from lots of pom.xml, but I can't find the obvious place
to specify 2.0.5-SNAPSHOT.
Shouldn't we update cocoon-trunk to use the snapshot version of
surefire? Otherwise it seems like we don't have a buildable cocoon 2.2,
unless I'm missing something?
...
Meanwhile, I've been trying to build using mvn -Dmaven.test.skip=true
clean install and I got the following error:
[INFO] Building xsp Block Implementation
[INFO] task-segment: [clean, install]
[ERROR] BUILD ERROR

required artifacts missing:
sun.jdk:tools:jar:1.4.0
for the artifact:
org.apache.cocoon:cocoon-xsp-impl:jar:1.0.0-SNAPSHOT
from the specified remote repositories:
central (http://ibiblio.org/maven2),
apache.snapshots (http://svn.apache.org/maven-snapshot-repository),
apache.snapshot (http://svn.apache.org/maven-snapshot-repository),
apache-cvs (http://svn.apache.org/repository)
... any ideas?
Thanks,
Andrew.

oh and in case this doesn't help just do
export MAVEN_OPTS=-Xmx256M ; mvn ....

there is currently a memory leak in surefire that makes it keep all the
tests in memory throughout the whole build. This was fixed last week on
trunk, i suggest you try upgrading to 2.0.5-SNAPSHOT.

Strange! I'm using latest m2 (2.0.4) and I have a mirror setup in my
settings.xml:
<mirror>
<id>sunsite.dk</id>
<url>http://mirrors.sunsite.dk/maven2</url>
<mirrorOf>central</mirrorOf>
</mirror>
Don't know if that makes a difference.
What about others? Are Giacomo and I the only ones trying to build 2.2?

Hmm, I've removed my $HOME/.m2 and rebuild a fresh trunk but still
getting lots of compile errors in cocoon-forms-impl regarding
missing commons-jxpath, excalibur-xml and others:

If the fix mentioned above is all we have to do (couldn't get it to
compile ATM and thus don't know if that's all) it would be easy to
upgrade to 1.2.7.

Yupp, I reverted to 1.2.6 and fixed another problem I introduced
yesterday in the scratchpad block.
Apart from that, it's working for me - did you try a clean build and
removed all org/apache/cocoon artifacts from your local repository.
That's the way I usually build Cocoon.
