PUT and DELETE (REST web service load testing)

Hi, I'm a fan of JMeter and have been on this mailing list several times
over maybe 10 years. I am in the process of building a REST interface for a
non-profit organization and I'd love to use JMeter to load-test it.
However, it looks like the UI only shows GET and POST for HTTP methods.

Would it be very hard to add PUT and DELETE? The REST architectural style
for Web Services has been gaining in popularity due to the simplicity and
beauty of it... It's really just web pages for computers... with the
addition of PUT and DELETE for updating and deleting resources.

Is HTTP PUT and DELETE on the radar for the developers?

JMeter 2.2 already included the ability to set PUT and DELETE as HTTP
options - however this was a new feature and I suspece some of the
underlying code needs tweaking to make it work fully.

Bug reports / test cases (via Bugzilla) would be very welcome.

But unless it is a very simple fix, our priority is to get 2.3 out first.

That would be sweet! I have a lot to do before I'm ready to use it, but
hopefully in the next couple of months. (I'm doing this work in my free
time). When the feature gets in I'll make sure I "advertise" it with some
of the REST gurus out there. Maybe they'll try it out and write an article
on it.

Hi

I've done some HTTP POST improvements for JMeter during 2007.
I think it would be fairly easy to add support for PUT and DELETE, so
it's one of the things I am considering implementing in the coming weeks
/ months.
First the 2.3 release has to be finalized.
