ServiceMix 4.3 fail to start up under Java 7
Installed JDK 1.7.0 and started up ServiceMix 4.3 under Windows XP.
(ServiceMix 4.3 startup under JDK 1.6.21 worked OK!)
Encountered the following errors:
Does anybody have any idea?

Hi,
Servicemix 4.5 will aim to use CXF 2.6.x and Camel 2.10.x, both support JDK 7.
So we can say SMX 4.5 would support JDK7.

Hi Andreas,
Even we can release karaf 2.2.3 soon which certified to suppot java 7,
it also means that we need a new cxf and camel release which based on
karaf 2.2.3.
Moreover, currently per the discussion here[1], there's still some
issues for cxf with JDK7, mainly security related, and here is the
camel with jdk7 discussion[2].
That said, to claim servicemix 4.4 support jdk7, we need release karaf
2.2.3, and also new cxf, camel, probably activemq which all support
jdk7, but I don't think this is doable for smx4.4 release, which is
scheduled for a long time and already actually started the release
process(like release bundles, archetypes)

Feel free to call me a fool, but since 4.4 is not for vote by now,
karaf-2.2.3 with CXF (2.4.1) is working with java7 (and maybe camel too)
isn't it worth to give it at least a try? We can/and will release
karaf-2.2.3 very soon (and I'm sure even earlier if required e.g. by smx).
Someone has to test with the current Karaf Snapshots, Java7 and an existing
project. If e.g. camel 2.8 refuses to work with java7 that will present a
complete different situation at all of cause; but if it works I think 4.4 is
still an option, isn't it?

and cxf 2.4.1, those version get released even before JDK 7 is
out, :-), so there's no guarantee that Servicemix 4.4 can support JDK7.

I'm not sure about camel TBH, but Karaf will run fine with java7 in the next
minor release (as JB pointed out) and in my projects CXF also runs quite
fine on the current Karaf 2.2.3-SNAPSHOTs.

Does anyone know the schedule for the next ServiceMix (4.4? or 5.0?) release
that shall support Java 7?

Yes, it's in progress. Karaf 2.2.3 should be able to run with Java 7.

This is kind of expected behavior, as JAVA7 is just out and karaf
version used for Servicemix 4.3 not support it yet.
We have some discussion in Karaf about supporting JAVA7 in the near
future.
