Regina,

there is more that is different with the latest version of Open Office 
Writer

when I save a file in  "RTF" and then later open it
several the apostophes are replaced with oriental symbols
i.e.  Paul's  was saved, but it opened with an oriental symbol between 
the "l" and the "s"

when a document saved as "RTF"
had the "-" between two words
later when it was opened the "-" had been replaced with a diamond shape 
with a small letter in it

also, the document saved as "RTF"
had set the starting page number to a specific number,
to show that this chapter continued from the last
i.e. starting page was "77"
when it was later opened, the starting page number was "1"

all three of these issues repeated several times

it sure would be nice if the codes for the RTF file could revert to the
"old tried and true" codes that have worked for years
