Windows 2008 R2 and Console Proxy

Hi list,

Anyone ever faced a mouse issue using Windows 2008 R2 and the Console
Proxy? For some reason, the mouse is not working properly (just getting
a plus pointer). We have to use keyboard to enable RDP. We tried with
chrome and firefox, same thing.

Thanks!

No, it's a new Windows 2008 R2 freshly installed (mouse wasn't working
on the installer either). We had to do the install using the keyboard.

Hi Francois,

Did you make a sysprep before running your Windows 2008 R2 ?
If this is the case, after installing the complete VMWare tools and before
running the sysprep, set PersistAllDeviceInstalls to 1 under:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Setup\Sysprep
\Settings\sppnp

Otherwise, the mouse driver is reseted after the sysprep.

Regards,
Fabrice

Interesting, wonder why someone would use VNC on VMware after having read that article!

Though I have been able to work with VNC on RHEL VM running on VMware GSX without issues. Everything works fine except the screen resolution is limited and mouse movements aren't super precise.

Somesh

Geoff actually get me some of the details.

The thing I don't understand is that it's working fine from vSphere
Console without the tools. I always though the Console Proxy was simply
redirecting the actual VMWare Console.

In any cases, we will try to install VMWare Tools on our template, and
see if we have the mouse.

Thanks for your help.
