[jira] [Created] (COMDEV-177) Don't store derived data files in SVN

Sebb created COMDEV-177:
---------------------------

Summary: Don't store derived data files in SVN
                 Key: COMDEV-177
                 URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/COMDEV-177
             Project: Community Development
          Issue Type: Improvement
          Components: Projects New
            Reporter: Sebb

Most of the files under https://svn.apache.org/repos/asf/comdev/projects.apache.org/site/json are derived from other data that is stored in SVN and can be readily recreated. There seems little point in storing the derived data in SVN again.

However, some of the files contain information that is derived from dynamic sources that are not part of a VCS; these must be kept in SVN because it is not possible to recreate them fully.

Such files include:

accounts-evolution.json - this is derived from changes to LDAP which are not journalled anywhere AFAIK.

[That may be all; to be confirmed]
