[VOTE] Release of Batik 1.7beta1 (second attempt)
Hi everyone.
(Second time lucky!)
I’ve built the release files for Batik 1.7beta1. This is from the code
at:
http://svn.apache.org/repos/asf/xmlgraphics/batik/tags/batik-1_7beta1
You can see the list of changes since the last release (2 years ago!):

As with FOP, I’ve built versions for JRE 1.3 and JRE 1.4+. The
signatures were created using the key I’m signing this mail with, which
is also in the KEYS file in the distribution. The MD5 hashes are below:

Thanks, indeed! I wasn't getting the same md5 sums by generating the
files myself. Then I got your message :-)

The release appears well cleaned-up, licensing stuff is in order, the
new website looks great. A little smoke-test on my side shows no
anomalies. It seems to work fine with FOP, too.
Great job, Cameron, with the release! Congrats to the whole Batik team
for an important milestone!

I've done a build of all files under Mac OS X 10.4.9 JRE 1.5.0_07-164.
Aside from the potential to waste time accessible in
'samples/solitaire/klondike.svg' I see no other problems... ;-)
Well done all, and a special and hearty thanks to Cameron for doing
this release (and I'll 2nd Jeremias accolades to Cameron for migrating
the web site to Forrest--it looks great!).

Yeah, I don’t mind too much about the recent bugs that have cropped up.
They can get fixed between 1.7beta1 and 1.7.

This is a good place to start:

The Jakarta Commons "parent" POM

and e.g. the Commons Lang POM

are good examples to work from. I might also be able to help.
Usually one follows this process to publish

but there is some Apache sync magic that I'm not fully aware of, so you
may wish to contact Brent Worden, who created the current batik POMs, see

I know nothing about Maven, but I can try. Where would these need to be
published? Do you have a pointer to some documentation that explains

Might you be able to create a set of maven poms for the 1.7 update of
batik?
The original batik 1.6 poms didn't have the correct dependencies, so a
second set of poms needed to be created (version "1.6-1"). It would be
great if the poms could come directly from the batik project.
