   @chernyih Thanks for the PR, LGTM. Seems like a reasonable change since we are just ensuring that backoff is applied unless ApiVersions response is received. Since we were applying exponential backoff for authentication failures, delaying to ApiVersions response seems ok. Merging to trunk.
