XCB Property Stream

I noticed something unusual today.

Sometimes an Excel template or workbook generated by Excel has a new
Property Stream named “XCB”. This is in addition to the streams documented
at OpenOffice.org (http://sc.openoffice.org/excelfileformat.pdf). It appears
to contain custom toolbar information (which you can create in Excel using
View | Toolbars | New… or | Attach…)

By the way, if you haven’t looked at the Open Office document, you might
want to be aware that it was updated in August 2003. Now it describes a
successor to BIFF8 (called BIFF8X) used by Excel XP and Excel 2003. And the
document references http://apache.Jakarta.org/poi/poifs/fileformat.html now
for a description of the OLE2 structured storage format.

The reason I mention this is that it is something to look for when a POI
generated spreadsheet crashes in Excel.
