Currently, Apache Tez explicitly sets ProtobufpcEngine for its Protocol Buffer-based RPC protocols. Starting from Hadoop 3.3.0 ProtobufpcEngine2 was introduced.

Since Tez now depends on Hadoop 3.4.2 (as seen in the root pom. xml)
