JMeter: Help on Jmeter functions

Hi all,
Do anyone know any link where i can find some information about following
JMeter functions:

1. _logn
2._XPath
3. _time
4. _StringFromFile

i have gone through jmeter manual but was unable to find the required
information. May be some examples can help !!!
