[Nominations] List of candidates

Hi All,

Please review the following summary of the nominations.
If I have made any mistakes please let me know ASAP.

The following Candidates have been Nominated for Chair of James' PMC,
but I cannot find a "second" on the list, please correct me if I'm
wrong.

Norman Maurer Nominated by: Stefano No Second?
Stefano Bagnara Nominated by: Norman No Second?

Bernd has been nominated but I'm not sure if Robert was seconding him:

Bernd Fondermann Nominated by: Stefano Seconded by: Robert

The following are both nominated and seconded:

Danny Angus Nominated by: Robert Seconded by: Vincenzo
Vincenzo Gianferrari Pini Nominated by: Noel Seconded by: Robert

The following have withdrawn themselves:

Robert Burrell Donkin Nominated by: Stefano Seconded by: Danny

I will leave it until 12:00 GMT tomorrow (tuesday) for people to
review and correct this list.
I think it would be OK if we extend the deadline for nominations to
the same time (12/Nov/2007 12:00 GMT).

After that deadline expires I will incorporate any changes and propose a vote.
Please be aware that if nothing changes the ballot will be between
Vincenzo and Myself.

My agenda for James

Posted by Bernd Fondermann <bf...@brainlounge.de>.
Hi guys,

thanks for nominating me in this election. I am proud and happy,
regardless of the number of votes I will (not) receive. ;-)

As it was proposed, here a few words...

In the unlikely case of my election I would continue to provide that or
the other backend feature, as I have in the past month.
I'd also try to get more involved in current and future architectural
discussions and would from time to time summarize and try to focus the
decision making progress, where needed. Less pushing my own opinions,
more trying to find the common goal.

We need releases of the server product and that's where we get to the
center of this community's all-consuming passion ;-)
I deeply believe that if we are able to setup this process James will
live long and prosper :-)
The negativities which are still around have to be addressed by
understanding why they are there and then working on a solution. Hanging
out here should be fun!
We have to continue to modernize James, but without compromising quality
or turning away our established user base.

Much great work has been put into our smaller products. At least partly,
they target new user groups. I'd like to see these projects grow into
their own personalities and add even more value to our community.

According to ASF docs, "[t]he Chair is the interface between the Board
and the Project". I'd like to see that reports are drafted by the chair
not without collecting input from the community. Board communication
should be made transparent by the chair.

I have submitted James-related conferences talks for ApacheCon Asia and
Europe and the german OpenSourceMeetsBusiness (osmb.de). Unfortunately,
none of them has been accepted. But I will continue to learn how to make
good submissions. :-)

Regardless of who will be the new chair, that's what I will be working on.

Thanks,

   Bernd

I think so to, we'll count Roberts mail as a second.

No one seconded, so we are not in the list.

I think that when Robert says "i agree that Bernd would be good" he's
seconding Bernd.

+1

And Bernd, IMO.

Also remember that before starting the vote we have to ask nominated
people if they are willing to accept the nomination or not. You already
did this, Robert already rejected, Vincenzo did this in private but I
think we should make it "public", and Bernd didn't express his position,
yet.

Thank you,
Stefano

Soren,
Yes, more then one person was seconded my more than one other person
but as the nominations only *require* one second I've only mentioned
the first person to second a nomination.

Sorry. I've just been looking for one second per nomination. Respect, though :-)

Not that it really matters, but I seconded you in on 6 November, as well as nominating Vincenzo.
