[jira] [Commented] (COMDEV-359) RocketMQ Connect Hbase

    [ https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/COMDEV-359?page=com.atlassian.jira.plugin.system.issuetabpanels:comment-tabpanel&focusedCommentId=17055491#comment-17055491 ]

Charini Nanayakkara commented on COMDEV-359:
--------------------------------------------

Hi,

I am a third year PhD student from the Australian National University (ANU). My area of research is record linkage where I work on developing algorithms which can identify records relating to the same entity in the absence of a unique identifier. For more information please see my University profile here: [https://cecs.anu.edu.au/people/charini-nanayakkara]

Prior to joining the ANU I was employed at WSO2 ([https://wso2.com/)] for two years as a software engineer. I am interested in taking part in GSoC this year by contributing to the Apache community through addressing this issue. Since I aspire to join the industry as a researcher subsequent to the completion of my PhD, I am very much keen to be part of the open source community and enhance my skills as applicable to the industry.

I would be grateful if you could give me some pointers on where to start, given my interest to contribute to this project for GSoC 2020.

Regards,

Charini

> The Hbase sink connector allows moving data from Apache RocketMQ to Hbase. It writes data from a topic in RocketMQ to a table in the specified HBase instance. Auto-creation of tables and the auto-creation of column families are also supported.
> So, in this project, you need to implement an Hbase sink connector based on OpenMessaging connect API, and will execute on RocketMQ connect runtime.
