[jira] Commented: (JCR-2406) Upgrade httpclient dependency to 4.0

    [ https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/JCR-2406?page=com.atlassian.jira.plugin.system.issuetabpanels:comment-tabpanel&focusedCommentId=12781940#action_12781940 ]

angela commented on JCR-2406:
-----------------------------

as said in JCR-2389 I'm opposed to this upgrade as right now I have not time left to run after any kind of problems that may arise due to
this change nor do I have time to carefully test all the bits and pieces that make usage of the httpclient as there are no automated test setup
that would have such problems bubble up during the regular build process.

> Httpclient is one of these libs that tends to be pulled by another third party lib

yes... and my experience with those kind of libs was, that upgrading to more recent versions was more of an issue than sticking with an old one.

I don't see any necessity to address this right now.

> Httpclient is one of these libs that tends to be pulled by another third party lib and often with conflicted versions (in a traditional environment contrary to OSGi).
> Upgrading from 3.0 to 4.0 allows applications to use both Jackrabbit and the latest release of HttpClient.
> As discussed in JCR-2389, this is a sensitive task as it can introduce regression.
