[jira] [Created] (INFRA-5589) Move
http://updateext.services.openoffice.org to Apache hosting
Andrea Pescetti created INFRA-5589:
--------------------------------------
Summary: Move http://updateext.services.openoffice.org to Apache hosting
Key: INFRA-5589
URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/INFRA-5589
Project: Infrastructure
Issue Type: Task
Security Level: public (Regular issues)
Components: Website
Reporter: Andrea Pescetti
The OpenOffice project is still using (for some, unspecified, legacy releases)
updateext.services.openoffice.org
to serve one XML file that contains information about extensions updates. This host is still served by OSUOSL, who recently contacted Infra to get the host relocated to Apache.
In short, we will need:
- updateext.services.openoffice.org moved to Apache hosting
- Answering GET requests for one static file: http://updateext.services.openoffice.org/ProductUpdateService/check.Update (we will get PROPFIND request too, and they should be ignored)
- Update that file on an hourly basis from http://extensions.openoffice.org/ProductUpdateService/check.Update (via wget; in theory updateext.services.openoffice.org could be defined as an alias of extensions.openoffice.org, but years ago the traffic was too big and the servers were decoupled)
I'll add Lance from OSUOSL to CC in case we need more information from him.
