[jira] [Created] (SPARK-15950) Eliminate unreachable code at projection for complex types

Kazuaki Ishizaki created SPARK-15950:
----------------------------------------

             Summary: Eliminate unreachable code at projection for complex types
                 Key: SPARK-15950
                 URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/SPARK-15950
             Project: Spark
          Issue Type: Improvement
          Components: SQL
            Reporter: Kazuaki Ishizaki

When we run a spark program with a projection for a complex type, some unreachable code blocks are generated. It would be good to eliminate them to reduce the total size of Java byte code in a method generated by whole stage codegen.

{code}
val df = sparkContext.parallelize(Seq(1, 2), 1).toDF("v")
df.selectExpr("Array(v + 2, v + 3)").collect
{code}
