debug of log4cxx

I tried to turn on the debug flag for log4cxx. I run
./autogen.sh
./configure CXXFLAGS="-g"
make

on AIX box using xlC. But when I invoked dbx ./delayedloop.  It
complained about
"no source compiled with -g".

Did I miss anything? Thanks
