[jira] [Created] (LOG4J2-63) Support configuration from log4j.properties

Rogger Rabbit created LOG4J2-63:
-----------------------------------

             Summary: Support configuration from log4j.properties
                 Key: LOG4J2-63
                 URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/LOG4J2-63
             Project: Log4j 2
          Issue Type: Wish
          Components: Configurators
            Reporter: Rogger Rabbit

Because i have not found the feature in project page: Please please support configuration of Log4J 2 over the old fashioned properties file (log4j.properties). It is the easiest understandable config format.

[jira] [Commented] (LOG4J2-63) Support configuration from log4j.properties

David Johle commented on LOG4J2-63:
-----------------------------------

I was always a supporter of Properties style syntax for log4j 1.x as I disliked the XML configs I had been exposed to, however I must say that the improvements made in the schema for log4j2 make the XML a lot easier to work with than before. Also, some of the new features would be a lot harder/more confusing to implement in Properties format.

And lastly, it's quite easy to lint your configs since the XML can be validated with standardized tools -- a bonus which can save some runtime headaches, which is always A Good Thing(tm) when dealing with production systems!
