[jira] [Updated] (SPARK-14882) Programming Guide Improvements

Sean Owen updated SPARK-14882:
------------------------------
    Priority: Trivial (was: Major)

The first reference is accurate insofar as the release you download or get from Maven is built for one version of Scala, and Scala versions are generally mutually incompatible. It actually auto-inserts the current version and Scala version there. If you want to add a sentence about being able to build for other Scala versions, OK.

The second reference is already removed (we should generally refer to "off heap storage" instead). Look at the version in {{master}} to see what the current state is.

> I'm reading http://spark.apache.org/docs/latest/programming-guide.html
> It says "Spark 1.6.1 uses Scala 2.10. To write applications in Scala, you will need to use a compatible Scala version (e.g. 2.10.X)." However, it doesn't seem to me that Scala 2.10 is required because I see versions compiled for both 2.10 and 2.11 in Maven Central.
> There are a few references to Tachyon that look like they should be changed to Alluxio
