   The (purported) problem with the _all_docs response is that the format of the response body requires knowledge of the request (whether the body had a {"queries": [...]} format or not). 
   
   The mooted solution is to have different endpoints, but that has exactly the same problem. You have to know the associated request url.
   
   Why is one better than the other?
