[jira] Created: (OPENJPA-432) Would like for OpenJPA to provide a platform for eclipse Dali

Would like for OpenJPA to provide a platform for eclipse Dali
-------------------------------------------------------------

                 Key: OPENJPA-432
                 URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/OPENJPA-432
             Project: OpenJPA
          Issue Type: Wish
          Components: third-party
Environment: The eclipse webtools project now comes bundled with the Dali component which provides functionality to write/test/compile/manipulate a JPA project.
            Reporter: Wes Wannemacher
            Priority: Minor

As discussed (somewhat vaguely) here in the eclipse..dali newsgroup, openjpa implementations can provide a platform plugin which would allow some added functionality while using the dali component of eclipse -

http://dev.eclipse.org/newslists/news.eclipse.technology.dali/msg00277.html

I wish I could say that I know enough about the eclipse internals and plugin development to give this a crack myself. The one thing that stands out the most is that I would like to right-click in eclipse and do a 'Generate DDL.' The option is available, but when run, eclipse tells me that the generic platform does not allow this sort of functionality. This would be a great addition and would make things a bit easier.

Ing. Pavel Janousek commented on OPENJPA-432:
---------------------------------------------

JPA spec 2.0 will standarded some common JPA vendor property entries (Generate DDL, JDBC spec. etc...) - so I think (and except), that full support JPA 2.0 from Dali on generic platform will be usefull on OpenJPA persistence provides too... or althought you select EclipseLink and have OpenJPA higher in classpath, you got full expected functionality...
