This also calls for pluggable copy process. Geronimo plugin should be easially reconfigurable to support various methods of delivering files to the remote server and configuration restart methods.

One of the obvious solutions would be ssh copy and remote restart. Problem here is that not all server versions may be supporting remote configuration restart. In this case  - a simple agent on the server with a  custom RPC call into it ?
