implementation of activemq in chat

l want to implement the chat using the activeMq . l want to keep the message
in any temporary storage other than mysql database before message  consume
by the consumer side. Then after some time push that all messages to the
mysql database.Is there any technique to keep the message in the activemq
for some particular amount of time ..??
