           Summary: KeyResolverSpi derived classes require default
                    constructor
           Product: Security
           Version: unspecified
          Platform: PC
        OS/Version: Linux
            Status: NEW
          Severity: regression
          Priority: P2
         Component: Signature
        AssignedTo: security-dev@xml.apache.org
        ReportedBy: info@frankcornelis.be

Since xmlsec 1.4.RC2a classes that are derived from KeyResolverSpi should have a
default constructor because of some code in KeyResolverSpi:
KeyResolverSpi tmp = (KeyResolverSpi) getClass().newInstance();

The thing is that I don't want that the class KeyResolverSpi instantiates
itself. Since my derived key resolver was passed arguments during construction
via the constructor, a new instance would not have these arguments passed in.
This makes 1.4.RC2a unusable for my application.

------- Additional Comments From info@frankcornelis.be  2006-10-19 03:11 -------
Even some classes of xmlsec itself (under
org/apache/xml/security/keys/keyresolver/implementations) will fail on this I guess.

I see how you manage, you are right, if you use
KeyInfo.registerInternalKeyResolver(KeyResolverSpi realKeyResolver), you can
register an already created keyresolverSpi.
I will fix this, tonight.

As work arround you can overload
public PublicKey engineLookupAndResolvePublicKey
in your KeyResolverSpi it will fix your problem, make your class works in 1.3 &
1.4 and make it a little faster in 1.4.

Anyway I will fix it tonight and send you a new jar.

Regards,

How do you register your new implementation the only way doing this is in
public static void register(String className);
And there is no public constractor for KeyResolver!!!
And the only protected constructor takes a string argument!!!
