Tobago Image tag not transparent

In Tobago 1.0.7 the image tag ( t:image ) does not seem to produce a
transparent background (instead a medium gray background).
I'm using the new richmond style, if that matters.

can you add an issue to jira for this?
Please add some example code and an image for this.
