I could not reproduce the problem in {{2.2}} with the corrupted file. The only way I managed to create a NPE was by providing an empty configuration file in which case {{yaml.loadAs}} returned a null {{Config}} which caused a NPE later on when the {{Config}} was accessed.
If the returned file is empty, the patch creates a new {{Config}} instance. The validation will then work normally and mandatory parameters will be requested as expected.
