Some info about Jetspeed portlet

Hi, i'm studying the source code of Jetspeed but i don't understand well
some thing:
1) Why local url managed by JetspeedDiskCache are not checked for update
and is not offered a way to do it? For example JetspeedContent portlet titled
Jetspeed Content Example that get info from jcm/jetspeed-content.xml seem
don't update its content if jetspeed-content.xml is updated.
2) The only difference between WebPagePortlet and WebPagePortlet2 is the
object HTMLRewriter()?
