ftp://ftp.gnu.org/pub/gnu/apache.README

Says:

Apache is an HTTP server designed as a plug-in replacement for the NCSA
server version 1.3 (or 1.4). It fixes numerous bugs in the NCSA server
and includes many frequently requested new features, and has an API
which allows it to be extended to meet users' needs more easily.

apache is available via anonymous FTP from ftp.apache.org
  [204.152.144.38], in directory /apache/dist/.

The IP is out of date and silly to have there anyway. If someone knows
who to contact and cares...

I am actually a little suprised that they have a pointer to Apache on
their site. After all, it isn't free software since it isn't
GPLed.
