One small thing: why do you compare the "class names" near isAssignableFrom(). I think it's enough to use Objects.equals(class1, class2) - because 2 classes with same name can still be different (not in this case, but in general, e.g. for compiled expressions in Lucene).

I can really review the GUI code as I have no idea about Swing and AWT, I just trust you that it confirms to standards. :-)
