ErrorDocument

I am having problem with catching an Error 500 in my application.
I am running Apache and Tomcat.

I have tried to put the -  ErrorDocument 500 "Server Error - statement
at lots of different places in my httpd.conf but I'm still only getting 
tomcat's
stack trace. Catching a Error 404 or others work perfectly.

Any help would be appreciated, is it perhaps not possible to catch the
internal servlet error 500 this way?
