[VOTE] Apache Nutch 1.11 Release Candidate #1

Hi Folks,

A first candidate for the Nutch 1.11 release is available at:

  https://dist.apache.org/repos/dist/dev/nutch/1.11/

The release candidate is a zip archive of the sources in:
http://svn.apache.org/repos/asf/nutch/tags/release-1.11-rc1/

The SHA1 checksum of the archive is
6adebaca0504be69a9e6c67ae1eb3a8487b1806f

In addition, a staged maven repository is available here:

https://repository.apache.org/content/repositories/orgapachenutch-1006/

Please vote on releasing this package as Apache Nutch 1.11.
The vote is open for the next 72 hours and passes if a majority of at
least three +1 Nutch PMC votes are cast.

[ ] +1 Release this package as Apache Nutch 1.11
[ ] -1 Do not release this package because…

Cheers,
Chris

P.S. Of course here is my +1.

Hi Julien,

Yeah we can upgrade to Tika 1.11, whoops, forgot to do that.

As for releasing tar, why bother anymore? Zip works fine and
on more platforms.

RE: the src, whoops, yeah to include that too! Will do so in
RC #2, coming shortly.

Cheers,
Chris

Chris

-1 We usually release tar.gz as well as zip. More importantly we need to
release the sources as well as the binary. We can't even test that it
compiles OK

Since you released Tika, why don't we include it before cutting 1.11?

Thanks

Julien

What about the source package *-src.zip and the tar.gz packages (*-bin.tar.gz, *-src.tar.gz)?

The PGP key B876884A is missing in
 http://www.apache.org/dist/nutch/KEYS
It is contained in
 https://people.apache.org/keys/group/nutch.asc
We should
- either update the first
(it's also not in sync with "KEYS" committed in svn for trunk/2.x)
- or drop it and change the description
  in http://nutch.apache.org/downloads.html

These 2 points could be fixed without spinning a new release candidate.

Tested the bin package running a smaller crawl (2000+ documents):
- crawler runs smoothly
- successfully indexed with Solr 4.10.4
