There's work going on on providing HAWQ RPM and DEB packages as
part of Apache Bigtop integration efforts:
    https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/BIGTOP-2320

Yes there actually is more than one RPM that gets installed as part of Hawq.  As far as the public domain version, I don’t believe there is a single RMP install.  The Pivotal version gets installed through Ambari.  You can check out the Pivotal install documentation on the Pivotal website to get an idea of what I am writing about.
