James config.xml file configuration
Hi. I've been trying to get and initial setup of JAMES running on my
computer. The steps I have done are as follows:
1. unzip all the files on my james folder.
2. run the run.bat file.
3. Modify the config.xml file.
And there is where I am having a lot of problems. I just added the dns
address and when I went to run the run.bat again...I started getting a lot
of errors. I checked the xml file and it had unclosed tags and duplicated
class and match attributes. I fixed them (not sure if I did it the right
way) but Im still receiving this error:
ERROR 2007-06-18 15:08:38.029 [Phoenix.] (): There was an error running
phase "startup" for Block named "objectstorage". (Reason: Component named
"objectstorage" failed to pass through the Configuration stage. (Reason:
org.apache.avalon.framework.configuration.ConfigurationException: No
attribute named "class" is associated with the configuration element
"repository" at file:/C:/james/apps/james/SAR-INF/config.xml:894:22).).
Everywhere I read says I just have to add the dns...nothing about closing
tags or whatever. Does anyone has an idea about this? Or a link to a guide
to configure this config.xml ?
Im running James 2.3.1 (I tried 2.3.0 and 2.2.0 as well) on Windows XP SP2
and Sdk 1.4.2.14.
Thanks.

The one included in the default sar is valid.
So you can simply try running an just uncompressed james before any
change and you will see that it starts without xml errors.
Then you have to make sure you change the dns servers without breaking
the XML.

Hi Norman. Yes...If you read a little after I say I'm getting closing tags
errors...I say I fixed them. The other problem I have not solved is after
that. Does the original config.xml file in the SAR is supposed to have
errors ? Can anyone please send me a working file (as an example, a simple
one, nothing too fancy) please ? Thank you.

Hi,
the closing tags error happen because you have an error in your "xml syntax". Be sure that you really closed the tags and not missed some quotes. For example:
<something value="somevalue" />
bye
