SOAP / UPnP
Hi Folks,
HttpClient doesn't happen to have any extensions for SOAP and/or UPnP
already available, does it? The library we're attempting to use right now
(cybergarage) really isn't working too well.
Thanks!
Sam

Sam,
Glad to hear you got your stuff working.
We (laszlo) use Axis to proxy SOAP requests coming from Laszlo
applications, which is more client than server, I believe.
(Pablo Kang (pkang@laszlosystems.com) did the work).
I wouldn't mind a good clear reference for soap/axis though, which we're
still lacking.

Hi Ortwin (and Oleg & Eric),
Hmmmm -- we did manage to get the cybergarage library working, so there's no
urgent need for anything new. We're still interesting in understanding this
stuff, though... another of the developers here put it best when he said, "I
seem to only understand this library when I'm drunk."
I think I need to get a few good SOAP-for-dummies & UPnP-for-binary-folks
books, 'cause reading about it online is giving me some bad headaches.
Apache Axis seemed to be related more for server-side things, which we're
not particularly interested. I could be totally wrong, though -- the more I
try to understand, the worse my headache gets.
Any suggestions on books? :)
Thanks,
Sam

Hi Sam,
How's it going? We have not heard from you in a while :-)
No HttpClient does not provide too much support for dealing with the
message content. The only thing we currently support is Multipart-MIME.
If you have a good idea how support for SOAP or UPnP should look like,
feel free to post a design sketch or even code.

re: soap
That's my understanding, too, and they have an arch. that allows you to
use either the jre http stuff or httpclient (or perhaps others?). But
last I looked, they weren't using httpclient to the best of its
abilities. For example, it was hard to get access to > 1 cookie, I think.

Isn't it what Apache Axis is for?
