This is indeed strange.
But according the rules bug status cannot stay unconfirmed:
https://wiki.openoffice.org/wiki/Issue_lifecycle
Confirmed status is given to identified and reproducible bugs - this is not the
case here.
Please update with any new findings.

I'm sorry I've been very busy since I first posted but I'm taking a few minutes
to update.

I've tried different things again, installing the 4.1 (thanks), uninstalling
the lastest version and downgrading to 3.4.1, and it gives me the same problems
still.

Takes about 20 sec to open, save and close a document, whatever the size. The
"quick auto save" also takes more than 10sec while I'm using it. I found myself
with some more issues but with a program called Antidote which normally adds
easily to AOO 3, but that now just bives me a error while installing. Never had
those problems on my previous computer.

I thought it might be due to the age of my computer, it's an old Dell Intel
Core2 CPU with only 2Go of RAM on a 32 bit... I've installed W7 Family edition,
service pack 1.

The thing is my Photoshop CS5 works like a charm, nothing is slow. So why would
AOO be such a pain ?

If anyone can help, I'd be very obliged. My previous computer ended up in two
pieces when I had it repaired the last time (and it's a laptop...) and I'm
auniversity student so I need a good writer program. Always worked with OO so
all my files are in .odt.

If there is any info missing, please tell me, I'll answer more quickly this
time.
Thanks again and sorry for the wait.

Actually, I installed 3.4.1 first, but never got to use it since I upgraded it
right away. I just never had any problem before but it was with my previous
cpu.
So ...
AOO 4.0.1 bad
A00 4.1.0 bad
AOO 3.4.1 bad

Everytime I unsinstall all and delete the files left behind.

Antidote is a text corrector program (it's in french) and is made to work with
AOO 2 and 3. Worked before (on previous cpu) now not working.

This cpu was wiped out clean before installing anything (reformat). It's
fragmentation right now is C: 5% and D: 0%. I also had it all scaned, nothing.

I still don't understand what can have it do that.

[Issue 124582] Slow OO 4.0.1 on window 7

Hi,

I'm having a problem since I upgraded my AOO to 4.0.1 on Windows 7. It is very
slow to open a single file with almost nothing on it, what ever the kind of
file it is. Saving is extremely long and closing too, and sometimes end up in a
"crash".

I've searched the web to find a solution, ended up on different pages with
different solutions, none working. I'm not the best in computer science, but I
can follow indications (when it's clear at least :P).

So I've tried :
- resetting my profile, not working
- uninstalling AOO, deleting all the related files everywhere on my cpu, not
working
- my Java is Sun Microsystem 1.6.0_20 (found that the 1.7.0 is having
difficulties)
- uncheck the automatic updater box, didn't change a thing

The only thing I couldn't find is the "Improvement Pprogram"

Please don't tell me to go back to the previous version, it's a stupid answer.

Also, I tried on my other cpu which has Vista and I don't have the problem,
didn't had to remove anything or change anything. It has to do with W7.

Thank you for the help.
